I refused to let health challenges define my future – Elizabeth Amoaa

&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Elizabeth Amoaa&comma; popularly known as Speciallady&comma; has shared how years of health challenges and difficult life experiences inspired her to become an advocate for women’s reproductive health&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Amoaa&comma; the Founder of Speciallady Awareness&comma; Author of <em>The Unspoken Identity – The Woman with Two Vaginas<&sol;em> and current President of Rotary Global Hub&comma; was born in Ghana and raised in France and the United Kingdom&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">She holds a Bachelor of Laws &lpar;LLB&rpar; from London Metropolitan University and a Master of Laws &lpar;LLM&rpar; from the University of Surrey&period; Her initial ambition was to become an international lawyer&comma; but her prolonged health struggles significantly altered her career path&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">According to Amoaa&comma; she experienced recurrent vaginal infections&comma; fatigue&comma; chronic pain and heavy&comma; painful and irregular menstrual periods for years&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">In 2008&comma; she was diagnosed with uterine fibroids and infertility&period; She later became pregnant during her master’s degree programme and gave birth prematurely to her daughter shortly after completing her LLM&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Five years after her daughter’s birth&comma; Amoaa was diagnosed with two wombs&comma; two cervixes and two vaginal canals&comma; alongside severe endometriosis&comma; adhesions and secondary infertility&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">The experience&comma; she said&comma; motivated her to become a voice for women and girls living with reproductive health conditions&comma; particularly those who may be suffering in silence&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">In 2017&comma; following a missed miscarriage during which she carried a dead foetus for several weeks&comma; Amoaa established Speciallady Awareness to raise awareness of gynaecological conditions&comma; promote menstrual hygiene and help combat menstrual poverty&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Through the organisation&comma; she has supported communities&comma; hospitals and schools in Ghana with sanitary products and medical supplies worth thousands of pounds&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Speciallady Awareness also organises outreach programmes&comma; seminars and workshops focused on reproductive health and menstrual hygiene&comma; while providing consultations&comma; life coaching and mentoring for young people&period;<br><&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<figure class&equals;"wp-block-image"><img src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;mystorymagazine&period;com&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2026&sol;08&sol;photo&lowbar;2026-08-19&lowbar;11-59-35&period;jpg" alt&equals;"" class&equals;"wp-image-11103"&sol;><&sol;figure>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Amoaa has also documented her experiences in her book&comma; <em>The Unspoken Identity – The Woman with Two Vaginas<&sol;em>&comma; published in November 2020&period; The book is available through several libraries and online retailers globally&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Reflecting on her journey&comma; Amoaa encouraged people facing difficult circumstances to remain resilient&comma; seek professional support and use their experiences as opportunities for positive transformation&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Every challenge you face in life serves as an opportunity to transform your life positively&comma;” she said&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">For Amoaa&comma; the health challenges that disrupted her original ambitions have instead become the foundation of a wider mission to educate&comma; inspire and advocate for women and girls&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
