Felix Akakpo Dzefe, popularly known as Phylx, has highlighted limited access to capital and inadequate compensation as some of the major challenges confronting bloggers in Ghana.
According to him, many bloggers struggle to raise the funds needed to invest in equipment, digital platforms and other resources required to produce quality content and grow their businesses.
Phylx, who has built a career spanning blogging, media relations, public relations, social media marketing and brand influencing, said another challenge is convincing businesses and individuals to adequately pay for blogging services.
He began his media career as a radio presenter after completing his National Service at Cape FM in Cape Coast.
After relocating to Accra, he ventured into blogging while searching for an office job following his university education. His growing interest in the field eventually encouraged him to establish his own blog and invest in equipment, including cameras.
His work later expanded beyond blogging into public and media relations, brand influencing and social media marketing.
Through his professional engagements, Phylx has worked with prominent personalities and brands including Stonebwoy, Becca, Afia Schwarzenegger, Okyeame Kwame and Shatta Wale, as well as international organisations.
He believes bloggers who want to build sustainable platforms must focus on originality, consistency and producing content that remains relevant to their audiences.
While acknowledging that trending and viral stories can generate significant attention, Phylx stressed that exclusive content is equally important in establishing credibility and retaining a loyal audience.
He also recounted experiencing the loss of social media accounts during his career. However, rather than abandoning his work, he rebuilt his platforms and continued creating content.
Looking ahead, Phylx hopes to establish a global blogging brand dedicated to promoting Ghanaian and African brands, culture and entertainment to audiences around the world.
His journey, he believes, demonstrates the importance of persistence and adaptability in an increasingly competitive digital media industry.
