Entrepreneur, real estate developer and philanthropist Gabriel Kwabla Tanko Kwamigah has highlighted the importance of responsible mining and entrepreneurship in contributing to Ghana’s economic development.
Kwamigah, who hails from Weta in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region, has built a diverse career spanning entrepreneurship, real estate, mining, philanthropy, politics and traditional leadership.
Through Sesi-Edem Company Limited, he is involved in gold mining and export, with a focus on responsible mining practices and the need to ensure that mining activities contribute positively to communities and the broader economy.
His business interests also extend to real estate through TK Realities, where he focuses on providing quality and affordable housing.
Kwamigah’s entrepreneurial activities form part of a broader vision centred on creating opportunities and addressing socio-economic challenges in Ghana.
In 2020, he established the Tanko Foundation to support initiatives in healthcare, education and rural development. The foundation reflects his interest in using private initiatives to complement efforts aimed at improving living conditions in underserved communities.
Beyond business, Kwamigah has held public-sector positions at the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, giving him experience in public administration and national development.
He has also participated actively in Ghanaian politics, having contested the Ketu North parliamentary primaries in 2019 and again in 2023.
His interests further include agriculture, particularly rice farming, adding another dimension to his involvement in sectors considered important to Ghana’s economic growth.
Academically, Kwamigah attended Presbyterian Boys’ Senior Secondary School before pursuing studies at the University of Ghana and the Paris Graduate School of Management. He also holds an international certificate in Public-Private Partnerships from CITED in Kenya and is pursuing a doctorate in Public Policy and Administration.
For Kwamigah, leadership goes beyond holding positions and is fundamentally about service, impact and creating opportunities for others.
