She said tourism should no longer be viewed solely as a leisure activity but as a viable economic sector capable of generating revenue, supporting businesses and creating opportunities for communities.

Speaking in an interview with MSM, Ms Nuamah explained that CYCY Travels has positioned itself beyond conventional tour operations by developing structured travel and destination experiences across Ghana and selected international destinations.

The company provides curated tours, travel planning and consulting services while working with hospitality businesses to develop experiences that can attract customers and generate sustainable commercial returns.

According to her, CYCY Travels also contributes to the wider tourism value chain through its partnerships with tour guides, transport providers, hotels, resorts, cultural sites, artisans and food vendors.

“We position tourism as a business by designing commercially viable tour products, working with measurable outcomes, and treating destinations as assets that require planning, branding, and long-term strategy,” she said.

Ms Nuamah noted that the company works with resorts, lodges and destination brands with a focus on improving visibility, occupancy and revenue growth.

She believes such an approach can help tourism operators and investors recognise the sector as a scalable and sustainable business opportunity rather than an industry driven only by seasonal travel.

The CYCY Travels CEO also stressed the importance of proper destination development, arguing that effective tourism promotion requires more than marketing.

She identified a clear destination identity, reliable infrastructure, quality service delivery and well-packaged experiences as some of the key factors that determine whether a destination can attract and retain visitors.

She further emphasised the role of sustainability and community participation, saying destinations are more likely to thrive when local residents benefit economically and have a sense of ownership.

CYCY Travels, she explained, helps transform lesser-known locations into structured tourism products through itinerary development, experience curation and digital promotion.

The company also hosts cooking-class experiences in Ghana, adding another dimension to its efforts to connect visitors with local culture and experiences.

Ms Nuamah said strategic partnerships remain central to the company’s business model, with CYCY Travels collaborating with hotels, resorts, eco-lodges and tourism boards.

She said these partnerships allow the company to create new experiences, improve service delivery and reach different customer markets.

For its partners, CYCY Travels provides exposure, customer access and brand positioning, while the collaborations enable the company to expand its offerings and remain competitive.

However, she acknowledged that tourism businesses in Ghana continue to face several challenges.

Among them are limited access to financing for tourism-focused small and medium-sized enterprises, infrastructure gaps in emerging destinations, inconsistent service standards, unreliable information and inadequate data to support investment decisions.

Ms Nuamah called for stronger public-private partnerships, improved infrastructure and better access to tourism data.

Reflecting on her leadership journey, Ms Nuamah said building CYCY Travels has required resilience, continuous learning and a gradual shift from hands-on tour planning to developing systems, partnerships and a stronger brand.

She identified the successful execution of large group tours, partnerships with high-end resorts and the decision by international travellers to explore Ghana and other destinations through the company as some of the defining moments in its development.

Looking ahead, she said her ambition is to establish CYCY Travels as a leading destination experiences company in Africa.

The company plans to expand its destination portfolio, deepen strategic partnerships and participate more actively in discussions around destination development and tourism investment across the continent.

“We are not just selling trips; we are building structured, commercially viable destination experiences,” Ms Nuamah said.
